Craig Fletcher, a gaming and esports entrepreneur of 20 years, is standing for the Liberal Democrats party, in the upcoming UK general elections. He is supporting the UK’s gaming and esports industry as part of his campaign—with plans to increase the country’s funding for gaming and to appoint a government minister to oversee the growth of the nation’s esports industry.
“We’ve had some backing and some supporters in government before, but they’re leaving,” Fletcher told The Esports Observer. “Ed Vaizey, who was very supportive when he was the Culture Minister, is not standing. We need to get some MPs into parliament who support gaming and esports.”
